History of the Farside

The original Dj Farside, there are now a few other DJ's going by the Farside name, but the original Farside was established in 1995, he is from North East Lincolnshire, England. He was established a very long time before any of the others took his name, DJ farside is a worldwide hard trance DJ, he has a very long DJ background, going all the way back to January 1995 when he first bought a pair of Technics 1210 vinyl decks. For those of you that are that young and unaware what these are, vinyl decks are turntables that play 12" vinyl records, they were what DJ's used to use, none of the digital stuff that is used these days and that actually almost mixes itself for you, these days you press a button and the BPM's are all matched, everyone is a DJ these days, gone are the days now when you spent years and years gaining the technical skills to actually DJ.

He first started playing industrial hardcore techno (aka Gabba), but soon changed over to hard German and UK Trance after hearing this music played by the renowned underground UK DJ M-Zone, at an event called Dizstruxshon at the Kilpin Leasuredrome, near Howden, in East Yorkshire.
Those were the good old days, the mid 90's :)

DJ Farside became a resident DJ in 1998 at an event called Inferno, in Sheffield, at the Arches club, he continued to DJ all across the UK at various clubs/events then a year or two later gained more DJ residencies, one at "Industry", which was M-Zone's trance / techno event in Lincoln and Hull, he helped M-
Zone a lot in the beginning years with Industry and they became good friends. The other residency was at "Retro-Spekt" which was a Dizstruxshon classics event, this was held all over the place, Doncaster, Wakefield, Lincoln etc etc.

He continued to play all over the UK at various events, huge and small. Events such as the huge Helter-skelter that was held in Milton-Keynes, which at the time was the largest event in the UK regularly exceeding 5000 people in huge warehouses, sometimes up to 8000 people.

While playing at Helter-skelter he was spotted by a talent scout from another huge event called Raindance. Raindance was the biggest rave party in the UK, with up 10,000 people attending their events during the 80's and 90's! Upon hearing his hard trance set they approached him and booked him there and then for their next Raindance event.

Farside has played at many other established events across the UK such as Pleasuredome, Dizstruxshon, North, R'House, Incision, Insomniac, Stimulation, Atomic, Quake, Probe.. the list is endless..

He then went into music production, learning how to write / produce his own tracks, he made 3 full hard trance / techno-trance tracks. Those that were lucky enough to hear them will remember the one with the evil dead sample "this is my boom stick!!" just before the kick and bass dropped in hard, none of his 3 tracks were ever released as by this time he had a lot of soul searching to do... so..

In the summer of 2004, Farside retired from the DJ scene, he bought himself and his friend Nick (DJ Teck Nick, who was one of Farside's Timeline resident DJ's and best friends), a round the world ticket to visit various countries such as Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Hawai, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand etc.

They arrived in Thailand and never left there lol!! Say no more!

Farside continued to live in Thailand for a year while TeckNick returned back to the UK, becoming an HTID harder they come resident.

Farside was in Thailand during the 2004 boxing day (26th December) Tsunami, but luckily just missed it due to his friends car breaking down while driving down south Thailand to Phuket (wow that was lucky!), although the same year he was stabbed in the right eye by his ex Thai girlfriend, so maybe not the luckiest year after all (he has plenty of good stories, just ask him!)

In 2010, now back in the UK, Farside was bored, missing DJing and missing the music badly, so he started his own event called Timeline, it played all the classics from 1993 to the current day. Classic trance, hard trance, techno, hardcore, happy hardcore, even some classic house (and trance) was played by Timeline's resident DJ Rob Taylor.

2010 was a bad year for the music scene in the UK, so Farside had to give up doing the Timeline events due to lack of customers going out to nightclubs throughout the UK during this time. So once again he decided to retire again from the DJ scene.

As of 2023 Farside is now out of DJ retirement again and DJing all across the UK and South East Asia.

Dj Farside Services

Hard Trance DJ

Dj Farside plays all forms of hard trance, with hard kicks, bass lines and magnificent trance break downs, none of that weak ass commercial trance you hear on the radio by the famous well known DJ's. You will NEVER EVER hear ANY cheesy women vocal singing, EVER! on his sets. He hates that!

Farside is also open to teaching people how to DJ. If you have your own set up then please email to ask for DJ tuition prices on vinyl decks or CD/MP3/WAV decks. He will travel all over the UK. Prices depend on distance travelled, so obviously DJ tuition prices per hour will not be the same for one person who lives 20 miles from him compared to another person who is say 200 miles away.
